About The Sportsman Hotel
Affectionately known as “Sporties”, or simply “The Pub” within Brisbane’s LGBTIQA+ community, The Sportsman Hotel has been proudly serving the community since 1989.
For decades, Sporties has been regarded as a home away from home – a safe and welcoming place where people come together to celebrate, connect and support one another. Community groups have gathered here to organise, raise funds for good causes and honour those who have made an impact.
The Hotel features comfortable accommodation, three unique bars, a restaurant and showroom, and 12 gaming machines.
The Sportsman Hotel continues to be one of Brisbane’s most inclusive and vibrant venues, offering great food, entertainment and a true sense of belonging..

Dining at The Sportsman Hotel
Enjoy a freshly prepared meal from our menu every night between 5:30pm and 9:00pm Tuesday to Saturday, or 5:30pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, along with a beverage from our bar and a show from Brisbane’s best drag queens and performers.
Sporties is also open for lunch during the day from 11:30am to 2:00pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
Our menu combines classic pub favourites and modern dishes, including schnitzels, burgers, steaks, ribs, seafood and vegetarian options, all served with generous portions and great value. Weekday lunch specials are available with any drink purchase, making Sporties a popular choice for a relaxed meal or pre-show dinner.

Nellie’s Bar and Showroom
Open from 5:30pm until late Tuesday to Sunday, Nellie’s Bar is home to the Sportsman Hotel Drag Hall of Fame, featuring posters and memorabilia from the historic Queens Ball, the longest running LGBTIQA+ event in the world. The bar hosts Brisbane’s best drag shows and DJ sets most nights of the week, creating a lively and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy.
Butch Bar
Open from 11:30am until late Tuesday to Sunday, the Butch Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed drink and a bite to eat. It features pool tables, a Nightlife jukebox, 12 gaming machines and the popular outdoor Birdcage area. Join locals for regular pool competitions or stop by for friendly service and a cold one.
Bunker Bar
Open Friday and Saturday nights, the Bunker Bar hosts Rainbow Karaoke on Fridays and regular community club events on Saturdays, including Bootco, Brisbears and the Hellfire Club. The Bunker is also available for private functions and special events, offering a one-of-a-kind atmosphere in Brisbane.
